It’s been a while since my last post. Rather than writing into the void of the interweb, I think I’ll start contributing at various blogs I regularly visit. To start, I wrote this simple Surf Etiquette guide I wrote for Stokedforlife.com. You can read it by clicking here.

The brighter side of the C.I.A
I was surprised to hear a radio ad for the CIA on my way home.
In my search for this radio ad I heard and to disseminate for all of you to listen, I came across their TV ads…
The overall friendly and enticing ads are un-nerving
In the past, the CIA worked and recruited in secret… well, not really, but it’s more fun to think they are unsympathetic and exacting. And herein lies my point.
This just isn’t right, I grew up in the cold war (sometimes coming within a stones throw of a Soviet checkpoint). Plus, decades of Hollywood dogma led me to believe that the CIA of prior presidential administrations, always had a blatant disregard of the US Judicial system and human life. It was always there to be the shadow of the President or some rogue and corrupt Senator, Congressman, or CIA Director. The mere existence of these commercials destroys any fantasy I’ve had about the CIA.
I always imagined that if I wanted to join the secret ranks of the CIA, it would be a litenany of torture tests, interrogations and other forms of mental stress. I now believe the CIA interviews candidates like any other Corporation or Government agency.
Writers and Directors like Tom Clancy and Ridley Scott, must be worried about this new state of affairs. They’ve earned millions in books and movies for selling us on the idea that government is evil. Bush had given them a deluge of material that could last decades more, but in two short months Obama fixed that. Now, I expect their books and movies will be covering fictitious events that occurred before November 4th, 2008.
Who are we to blame for evil and injustice in the US government?

Zen Bound
$4.99! Really?
That’s so expensive. I live in a world where an iPhone app is Free, 99 cents if I may get some use out of it. Heaven forbid that a really good app costs $1.99 or more!
This has to be one of the best iPhone games out right now. It uses all of the iPhone features, does an awesome job drawing you in and focusing on just roping the figurines.
Take a look at this vid (from their website)
I love how it uses every feature the iPhone has to offer to maneuver the object and rope to get the twists and turns. The ambient music and the sound effects compliment each other so well.

What is Twitter good for?
Nightline did a peice on Twitter
If I was one of the Twitter investors I would be concerned about the ‘deer in headlights’ look the founders gave when asked the obvious question of “How do you make money?” It’s one thing to know that you and the guys who are running the company aren’t making money behind closed doors. It’s embarrassing when the guys driving the business tell the rest of the nation they don’t know how to make money.
Even though I’m sure that the overhead for Twitter is not likely to be massive, the whole point of a business is to Make Money. Otherwise, you’re running a non-profit organization.
With that said, I think it was safe to assume that I was in the “Twitter is useless” camp (if there is one). However, I am always happy to acknowledge when I’m proven wrong. A business here in LA is putting Twitter to great use and judging from the line I saw while going to the LA Startup Weekend, they seem to be successful.
Dubbed as ‘Korean Taco’, Kogi BBQ is a rolling eatery, aka Roach Coach. If you’ve ever eaten from a Roach Coach, it’s like playing roulette. So when you do find a good one, you always make sure to ask where and when they will be (there’s usually a regular place). This company has done something better, utilizing Twitter to indicate their location for the day, that’s genious.
Unfortunately, I was unable to sample their cuisine last night, the night of the LA Startup Weekend, as I also had another engagement. I intend to fully report on the experience once I relocate them.
